As the year comes to an end, let’s take a look at the most successful social media campaigns from 2022 and discuss why they were successful.
Coming in at #1, we have Spotify’s Wrapped Campaign
Every year, Spotify creates personalized playlists based off each users streaming history. According to Ad Week, in 2021, Spotify Wrapped reported that over 120 million total users engaged with their personalized playlist. This resulted in almost 60 million shares via social media platforms (Meltwater). In addition to the personalized playlist, Spotify also creates a fun click-through story where you can view your most listened to artists, podcast and songs.

I know from personal experience that this past week, my Instagram stories were filled with my friends Wrapped. Everyone looks forward to their results so they can share with others who their top artists and songs were. It’s almost a fun little game at this point. I would say this is probably their most genius creation yet.
Coming in at #2, we have Reddit’s Super Bowl commercial

According to The Sporting News, Super Bowl ads were going for $6.5 millions for just 30-seconds of air time. However, instead of using all 30 seconds, Reddit decided they only needed 5 to get their message across, and it worked! They really took brand awareness to a whole different level here. The ad begins as if it was a car commercial, then immediately cuts to an image of the Reddit logo, and ends with a clip of horses galloping through a field. This ad left every viewer wondering, “what the hell just happened?” Reddit then took the ad to Twitter to answer viewers questions of, “what just happened?”

This tweet has since been viewed over 450,000 times. Good work, Reddit.
Last but certainly not least, coming in at #3 is Twitter’s “If You Can Dream It, Tweet It” Campaign
This campaign also took a unique approach to brand awareness by getting a little emotional with their message. Twitter featured celebrities and other role models who tweeted their life goals in the past, which have since came true, and stuck them on a billboards across the world.

This campaign was motivational, powerful and impactful. It encouraged users to share their goals and shoot for the stars. The original Tweet that started this thread currently has 78K Retweets, 18K Quote Tweets and 800K Likes (Twitter). I would say that is a pretty successful campaign.
Though there have been thousands of successful campaigns this year, these three stuck out to me the most. If you have a favorite campaign from this year, feel free to share it with me :)
